What is the European Day of Languages?

The European Day of Languages has been celebrated since 2001 as an initiative of the Council of Europe.

Its activities on September 26 celebrate the linguistic diversity in Europe and alert the public to the importance of language learning in order to increase plurilingualism and intercultural understanding.

A number of events are organized throughout Europe on September 26 to raise awareness on the advantages of the lifelong language learning. Some of the European Day of Languages' projects and activities can be viewed here.

We are very proud to announce our third joint European Day of Languages in Toronto – which has been accepted to the official list of EDL events.
